Fun Ideas For School Holiday Activities And Keeping The Kids Entertained

Updated: Jul 25, 2023

Children cooking with parents at home on school break. Learning activities and engaging the whole family.

Kids' online cooking classes, at home, all together.

The school holidays always begin with a sense of excitement and optimism. A few days later it’s all tears, tantrums, and a pervading sense of doom. And that’s just you.

The kids are permanently hyped up or slumped on a sofa. Life is a never-ending battle - washing, entertaining, and providing snacks and meals. And you’ve got another how long to get through?

Healthy eating and learning to cook together

It’s not easy keeping your kids involved in family life and off their screens. Entertained and healthy. We all need to eat but what we eat matters. Learning about food and how to prepare it – and then sharing it – is an excellent way to learn a life skill, bring people together, and take an interest in our health.

Cooking and eating can be fun, comforting, and social. Ever bonded with someone you barely know over a recipe recommendation? We’ve all been there! Teaching your kids important life skills that help you too. Instead of seeing mealtimes as a stressful chore, you can enlist the help of your kids. Do it right and they’ll think you’re doing them a favour by letting them help – or even do it by themselves.

Especially as you need something that will entertain the kids and –quite frankly– stop you feeling like the hired help!

Learning to cook is a family activity that:

  • Is fun and rewarding

  • Helps you bond

  • Promotes teamwork

  • Builds self-confidence

  • Reduces stress

  • Promotes self-reliance

Fresh food makes you feel great. Unprocessed ingredients taste better. They contain vitamins, minerals, and all the good stuff you need to thrive. It’s ‘easy’ to depend on processed food in the belief it’s quicker and easier and everyone will eat it. But energy slumps, chemicals our bodies are just not equipped to deal with, and a lack of basic nutrition are just the tip of the iceberg.

An online cookery class, specially designed to engage and entertain while inspiring your kids (even teenagers!) will pay dividends. We can’t promise you’ll never have to cook for the family on your own again (and to be honest, where would the fun be in that?). However, you’ll be at least starting your kids out on their journey to leaving home with an essential skill and a passion for delicious, home-cooked food.

Fearless in the Kitchen cookery workshops teach you:

- How to make easy, tasty, no-fuss recipes together

- How to create healthy, balanced meals with the right amount of macronutrients

- Knife skills

All ages and abilities can join as long as an adult is present. You’ll create a deliciously tasty, healthy meal for four people.

US research suggests family dinners are linked to a lower risk of obesity, substance abuse, eating disorders, and an increased chance of graduating from high school’. And we all know that healthy eating can lead to better overall health and longevity. What’s not to love?

After all, you don’t want to be that parent, watching your child on a reality tv show in years to come, horrified by their inability to even boil some pasta.
